Step Up To Quality

Overview

Step Up To Quality (SUTQ) is a five-star quality rating and improvement system administered by the Ohio Department of Education and the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.

SUTQ recognizes and promotes early care and education programs that meet quality program standards that exceed licensing health and safety regulations. The program standards are based on national research identifying standards which lead to improved outcomes for children.

All registrations must be completed and submitted using the Ohio Child Licensing and Quality System (OCLQS). Rated programs would complete an ongoing registration in OCLQS to request a renewal or increase to their rating and unrated programs are able to register for an initial rating. OCLQS can be accessed by clicking the link on the left.

"Step Up To Quality Ratings Progressions Charts" provide a quick reference chart which show the SUTQ program standards for each level of a star-rated program. The reference chart is available for child care centers, preschool programs (centers link below) and family child care homes.
